Restoring Dignity This Festive Season: December Smiles for IDP Children 2026

Restoring Dignity This Festive Season: December Smiles for IDP Children 2026

Christmas is a season of warmth, celebration, and togetherness. Yet, for thousands of children living in the Ichwa Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Makurdi, Benue State, the end of the year often brings uncertainty rather than joy. Displaced by conflict, many of these young ones have gone months without basic comforts—a new outfit, a hot meal, or even a simple haircut.

At KISS DAVE OUTREACH FOUNDATION, a BBC-recognized humanitarian organization, we firmly believe that Christmas is for every child.

This year, we are taking action to ensure that displacement does not strip these children of their happiness and dignity.

Introducing: December Smiles for IDP Children

On Saturday, 12th December 2026, our team and dedicated volunteers will head to the Ichwa IDP Camp to host December Smiles for IDP Children. Our target is to transform the day for 200 children aged 5 to 15, creating memories filled with care, dignity, and hope.

At the heart of this outreach is our flagship “Cuts with Purpose” initiative. We believe that personal grooming goes beyond aesthetics—it restores self-esteem, pride, and a sense of normalcy.

What We Will Do

Our comprehensive outreach program is built around four core pillars:

1. DIGNITY — Cuts with Purpose

Providing professional haircuts for boys and beautiful hair braiding for girls to ensure every child feels confident and cared for.

2. JOY — Christmas Gifts

Distributing holiday gift packages containing fresh clothing, shoes, and toys to bring festive cheer.

3. HEALTH — Medical Care & Hygiene

Conducting basic health screenings, deworming exercises, and distributing essential hygiene kits.

4. HOPE — Community & Celebration

Serving hot meals, playing music and games, and holding engaging child protection talks to foster hope and resilience.

How You Can Partner With Us

This mission requires a community. We invite individuals, corporate partners, and compassionate organizations to join us in bringing this vision to life.

1. Sponsor a Child

A contribution of $22 or ₦35,000 covers the complete cost for one child—including their haircut/braid, festive meal, gift pack, and health intervention.

2. Volunteer Your Skills & Time

We are actively recruiting passionate volunteers:

Professional barbers & hair stylists
